Restoring Vintage Kimono and Obi Silk

Each textile begins its second life through careful sourcing across Japan. Vintage kimono and obi are discovered in antique shops, estate sales, and second-hand markets, where historic textiles often wait quietly to be rediscovered. Every piece is selected for the beauty of its fabric, craftsmanship, and the story it carries from the past.

Design & Transformation

Once restored, each textile is thoughtfully evaluated to determine its best future. Some pieces remain beautiful enough to be preserved as traditional obi, while others are reimagined into new forms such as pillows, handbags, or textile wall art. Every decision is guided by the goal of honoring the fabric’s original craftsmanship while giving it meaningful new life.

Cleaning & Restoration

Before any transformation begins, each textile is carefully dismantled and restored. The fabrics are gently cleaned using a vinegar and water treatment to refresh and stabilize the silk. When necessary, the textiles are professionally dry cleaned to ensure they are fully refreshed and ready for their next chapter.
